some colour mixes i was not as satisfied with when they dried. more similar to the more vintage pop art colours, i was aiming for more modern brighter more saturated tones
Colour theme to my artbook.
My artbook will be guided by one of the complimentary palettes in on of the quadrants. It will be compiled of 6 images on separate pages (4 shown in image) so there will be some variance and combinations to make the other 2 pieces.

Chalkd is a social way to find and play sport with people in your community. As someone who enjoys sport and friendly competition, there is very few opportunities to play socially within my social network. Therefore an app was conceived to expand my network to local members to play socially. By combining the data sources of Google Maps, Google Places and Twitter API
For best results, send a tweet with the #chalkd hashtag from your twitter smartphone app.
To find players near you, share your location when asked and click and drag on the chalkd icon on he chalkboard to the area you would like to to play. You can expand and retract your radius to maximise or minimise your search results. When you’re happy with your area hit ‘Search’ in the top panel. You can narrow your search query by adding phrases after ‘#chalkd’ in the field bar such as soccer, basketball or football. Your results will come up on the pinboard and the thumbnail on the stickynotes will correspond geographically to the thumb on the chalkboard.
Microsoft BOB
Like the very familiar interface we use everyday, there is a design metaphor that was adopted to represent how we organise and find files and folders on our desktop computer. The interface has since evolved to a more simplified and aesthetic form, however the initial analogy still holds true.
My inspiration for my design interface.
Taking the design principles of the humble community notice board used in households, offices, school and in communities alike is the hybrid integration of the 2 most practical ways of leaving messages to yourself and others. By using a chalkboard as a canvas to write or draw mental reminders and a cork board as a spread to attach small memos and notes.
This design analogy was utilised to embody the key elements of my website interface. Chalkboard represents the graphical representation of the locative map while the cork board represents the feed where requests are fielded and displayed.
So I’ve been having difficulties getting my Google Places and DistanceWidget markers to show up online, however my page locally through firefox seems to work after i installed a manual geolocation add-on.
CHALKD LOGO
I have created the concept of my logo combining the following elements
∆ Blackboard background (for obvious reason) to contrast the white chalk
∆ Chalk tally to represent the “HA” in “CHALKD” and also to symbolise the social competition between users
∆ Megaphone outline symbolises the open platform of the service
∆ Speech bubble outline represents the social media input of Chalkd and express the requests of everyone and anyone
∆ Jersey font is aesthetic of typefaces on football jerseys to give the logo that sporty edge
